W.— Golden State Warriors (@warriors) pic.twitter.com/DizUEThxuy May 10, 2022 But again, even if Morant were to make a return, to defeat the Warriors three straight times is asking a lot. 🗣️🗣️🗣️— Golden State Warriors (@warriors) pic.twitter.com/SyTFsK4VHO May 10, 2022 Everyone wants to see Morant back on the court and have this series decided at as close to full-strength as possible for both sides. Jaren Jackson said he found out more about Morant's injury today and "it's definitely sad." But if you want to do some dot-connecting, there's this: Memphis just couldn't score enough without its superstar, and Golden State was eventually going to get going, if only for a stretch. The Warriors, as mentioned, shot 24 percent from 3, but Memphis only shot 25 percent. Of course, a lot of that was Memphis' defense, which, to be fair, is actually better without Morant. Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole combined to go 0 for 10 from 3. Curry, who has been fantastic all postseason in the paint and at the rim, is off on his 3-point shooting and missing wide-open looks pretty regularly. Memphis, which was playing without Ja Morant, is not going to forget letting this one get away any time soon.

These are the playoffs, though -- a whole new game compared to the previous 82. When Morant missed the Grizzlies' game against the Warriors on March 28, Memphis beat Golden State by 28 points. However, a different angle of the play shows that Poole hardly grabbed Morant's knee while going for the ball as he and Andrew Wiggins double-teamed him. "As I said last night, just trying to be matter-of-fact here," Jenkins said Sunday. "This is what Ja says, what our medical team has said after reviewing the play. Morant played 36 minutes in Game 3 and still led both sides with 34 points. The first-time All-Star and winner of the NBA's Most Improved Player award this season left the Warriors' Game 3 blowout win Saturday night early after appearing to hurt his right knee.

2022 NBA Playoffs: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors ... (Grizzly Bear Blues)

PROJECTED STARTING LINEUPS: · MEMPHIS: Tyus Jones, Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Jaren Jackson Jr., Xavier Tillman · GOLDEN STATE: Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, ...

They have to get second chance points to have a shot in this series. This may be the biggest case to bring Steven Adams back to the starting lineup. The Warriors finished 25th in the NBA in that category. Sure, both Brandon Clarke and Tyus Jones had uncharacteristic games where they weren’t hitting their signature shots in the paint, and I do expect that to be an outlier. I know the Warriors in the playoffs in San Fran is a whole different beast, but there’s no quit in this Grizzlies team. Here are some keys to Game 4 if they want to even up the series.

Warriors vs. Grizzlies Preview: Golden State Seizing Control (NBA.com)

With Ja Morant unavailable, how will the Grizzlies adjust in a challenging Game 5 road matchup against Golden State?

While Golden State will score, I don’t see how Memphis reaches 100 points, and will therefore back the under of 223.5. In 14 of the 25 games Memphis played without Morant (56%), at least one of the two teams failed to crest 103 points. I don’t project a limited Grizzlies team winning a high-scoring Game 4. Golden State has covered three of their four playoff home games, and should have little trouble doing so again against a Morant-less Memphis team. He is also just 34% from 3P range, after posting 43.6% efficiency from deep this year. Here are my picks for tonight’s Game 4 matchup between Golden State and Memphis.

The Grizzlies will likely need to lean on their defense in the event Morant can't go. Morant missed 25 games during the regular season with the Grizzlies posting a 20-5 record. Post-game Warriors guard Jordan Poole was asked about the incident. I don't even play like that."

5 takeaways from Warriors' comeback win in Game 4 vs. Grizzlies (NBA.com)

Golden State shows some late-game grit, Mike Brown fills in admirably and more from a memorable Game 4.

The Grizzlies allowed the Warriors to shoot 10-of-17 from the field and 4-of-8 from deep in the final period. “A lot of it has to do with the playoff experience that these guys have but their talent and IQ in my opinion is second-to-none.” “I was pissed because I wanted to play and I wanted to play this season. “It’s helpful for James to have that example in front of him,” Kerr said. Wiseman has played in only 39 games since being selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 Draft and has yet to play an NBA game in his hometown. Green blocked Jaren Jackson Jr.’s 3-point attempt at the top of the key while the Warriors clung to a 98-95 lead with 19.5 seconds remaining. And he leaned on both the rest of the Warriors’ coaching staff, Green and Andre Iguodala for additional coaching help. After being part of two of the Warriors’ three NBA title runs, Brown will be tasked with leading the Kings to the playoffs for the first time since 2006. “Every game that we play at this point in the year, it’s huge.” “Now you have to manage everything and not necessarily manage the specific things that you are asked to do before game time. The Warriors escaped with a 101-98 Game 4 win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday to grab a 3-1 series lead. But after Draymond Green made a key block at the top of the key, Green roared in excitement toward the courtside fans.

Ja Morant remains a big question mark for Game 5, but given the importance of this contest, it won’t be surprising if he tries to play through the pain.

Warriors vs. Grizzlies: Steve Kerr to miss Game 4 vs. Memphis after ... (CBSSports.com)

Mike Brown will serve as Golden State's head coach on Monday night.

Obviously Morant's absence is a much bigger deal than Kerr being out for the Warriors, who are an experienced team that knows how to play in the playoffs and make their own adjustments on the court. Warriors assistant Mike Brown, who was just hired as the Sacramento Kings to be their next head coach, will serve as Golden State's coach in Game 4. The Golden State Warriors are looking to take a commanding 3-1 lead on the Memphis Grizzlies in their conference semifinal series on Monday night, but they'll have to do it without their head coach as Steve Kerr has tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced ahead of tipoff.

Game 5 Preview: Warriors vs. Grizzlies - 5/11/22 (Warriors.com)

Up 3-1 in the series, the Warriors have a chance to close it out in Game 5 on Wednesday night in Memphis.

Santi Aldama (right knee soreness) and Killian Tillie (lower back procedure recovery) are out. MEM: Ja Morant (right knee soreness) is doubtful. The Warriors have a reputation for changing the game with big third quarters, but it’s been their fourth quarter efforts that have been the difference in this series. Playing in the second round of the playoffs for the first time in his career, Andrew Wiggins has been a consistent force for the Warriors this postseason. The Warriors took their first lead of the game on a pair of Stephen Curry free throws with 45.7 seconds left, and Curry put the game away with more free throws, as he scored 18 of his 32 points in the final period. The Warriors, who won Game 1 in Memphis, have won a road game in 25 straight playoff series, and they’ll look to get a second road win in what is sure to be a tough road environment.

When the Grizzlies are missing Ja Morant, the Warriors are clearly the better team in this scenario. At this point, the Golden State Warriors know what they need to do in order to get a win. It's not impossible by any means, but it's going to be tough for them to rally a performance like that again in Game 5.
