'The Sound Of Magic' Review- Ji Chang-Wook And Hwang In-Yeop ... (Digital Mafia Talkies)

"The Sound of Magic" is described as a musical fantasy drama but happens to have none of those. It is the story of a disillusioned teenager who is going.

“The Sound of Magic” not only lacked the magic it promised, but it was also way below ordinary. But “The Sound of Magic” did not understand the assignment, and that has genuinely disappointed us. “The Sound of Magic” starts with a group of girls talking about the insane but handsome magician at the abandoned theme park and immediately switches to the whole school breaking out into a dance number. We understand that the writers wanted to show the tragic backstory of the magician, but it was poorly executed. They should have just stuck to Ah Yi’s story arc and done it well, or maybe Il Deong’s, considering how that was so much better. But alas, “The Sound of Magic” proves that even Korean entertainment is not immune. A magician is supposed to be charming and likable, and if it is a fantasy drama, maybe a tad bit dangerous when the script requires it. But we understand that they couldn’t adapt to the format well and tried to fit a 20-episode narrative into the 6 episodes. It is the story of a disillusioned teenager who is going through some tough times when she meets a magician who brings, yes, “magic” into her life and a lot of laughter and happiness. He is rumored to be insane but handsome, and it is said that his magic is not a sleight of hand but actually real. It was not well thought out, and we are not fans of how they decided to solve it all in the last ten minutes with an answer that was not convincing enough. She is a good student, however, and while she feels that she won’t be able to go to college, she at least wants to finish her high school diploma with good grades.

The Sound of Magic stars Ji Chang-wook, Choi Sung-eun and Hwang In-youp spoke to IndiaToday.in about the challenges of shooting for a fantasy K-drama.

Hwang In-youp plays the very charming Il-deung. He is someone who wants to excel at everything he does. We had a lot of rehearsals because a lot of VFX was required for that. Based on a webtoon by the same name, creator Kim Sung-youn is all excited about his next offering, The Sound of Magic. The Netflix original stars the charming Ji Chang-wook, Choi Sung-eun of of Beyond Evil fame and True Beauty fame Hwang In-youp in pivotal roles. To that, Chang-wook shared, “I want to become an actor who can pull off any and all roles.” This is perhaps the first time Ji Chang-wook will be seen playing a magician in a series. Ji Chang-wook plays a mysterious magician in The Sound of Magic, while Choi Sung-eun and Hwang In-youp play interesting characters.

I started learning acting and now here I am with director Kim, Chang Wook and Choi Sung Eun.” Chang Wook, who has also sung in the drama, praised director Kim for being “tenacious” and a “perfectionist”. In that aspect, I think everyone can relate to the story. That was the part that I discussed the most with the director. “For people, who are having difficult days, instead of just saying, ‘you can do it’, I really want to help them dream again. Asked whether there was any particular trick that he wanted to master, Chang Wook said, “I would definitely say pulling a rabbit out of a hat. “Ri-eul is a very frank and fantastical character and I think that was the most fun part.

South Korean heartthrob Ji Chang-wook has it all. Good looks, elite acting skills, and — we've seen it for ourselves — an exceptionally toned chest.

It took a great deal of courage for him to step out of his comfort zone in his late 20s and take a shot at fulfilling his dream. So I think I'm quite different from the character in that aspect because I wasn't forced into a dream by my parents." "I think the show will let you think about those past dreams and wonders you had as a child.

'The Sound of Magic' Ending, Explained: Does Ri Eul Prove His ... (Digital Mafia Talkies)

"The Sound of Magic" was a Korean drama series we looked forward to because it can never be a bad idea to see Ji Chang Wook and Hwang In Yeop on screen.

Not to mention how under-explored the relationship between Ah Yi and her father was and how she forgave him when he literally abandoned her and stole her money. She is unaware of the fact that Il Deong is doing this to prevent her from getting involved with the magician, as he believes that he may take advantage of her. As both Il Deong and Ah Yi understand his past, they rush to the theme park to meet him before he is arrested. But on this side of the curtain, Ah Yi is surprised and shocked when the magician tells her that he knows about the text messages she sends to her mother. In a later scene, we come to know that Il Deong is the son of the Chief Justice, Na Ik Deong, and he is preparing to study law just like his father. However, Il Deong and Ah Yi do not believe that he is guilty. The next day, Il Deong and Ah Yi study together in the library, and he shares his EarPods with her, imagining that he is singing for her. This causes her to be suspicious as to how Ah Yi is involved with the magician. But it just leads to more trouble when the people see that it is fake money and beat him up. To protect her, he offers to pay them back, and with one of his tricks, he makes money rain from the sky. Ah Yi thinks that it is not the money but her that is dirty and decides to go back to the theme park. Ah Yi is very happy, but then, he suddenly tries to feel her up by running his hands up and down her arms and pulling her close.

The Sound of Magic Review: Ji Chang-wook charms you as a ... (India Today)

The Sound of Magic stars Ji Chang-wook, Choi Sung-eun and Hwang In-youp in pivotal roles. Here's what we think about the Netflix original.

The strength of the show lies in its performances, rather than the story itself. If not for his easy smile and convincing performance, The Sound of Magic wouldn’t have been a breeze to watch. The mysterious aura around him and the vulnerability shown in parts is something that keeps the show interesting, although, at some point, the anti-climax seems predictable. The inconsistency in the use of music and dance throughout the episodes was apparent and did not work in favour of the show. Director Kim has used music and choreography as a medium to communicate the inner turmoil and dilemma of each character. In a ‘magical’ irony of sorts, Ah-yi ends up befriending Ri-eul, who is considered a crazy man.
