Not just in England, where he has defied the laws of net spend to produce the worthiest adversaries Manchester City will ever have, but in Germany too.

Kimmich swings in the corner from the right, where a Bayern head nods it back to Gnabry. The winger controls it on his knee just outside the penalty area and slightly to the left of centre, then rockets a volley into the right-hand corner of the helpless Hitz's net. The pass is a little overhit, although Reus still manages to send in a low shot on the angle which the advancing Neuer scrambles to stop with his legs. 45th min.: The hosts deal with a few Dortmund attempts to move forward. 61st min.: Zagadou shows his alertness to block a cross from the left with Lewandowski lurking in front of goal. 58th min.: More promising for Bayern! The would-be champions have withstood something of a storm during this second half, shipping a goal for their troubles.
