Five ups and one down from Burnley's win over Southampton as ... (Accrington Observer)

Burnley have taken four points from two games under interim boss Mike Jackson.

Together with Charlie Taylor and Connor Roberts they helped keep a clean sheet for just the second time in 10 games. His talent has never been questioned and if he can continue the performances of Thursday night then he can have a big say on Burnley's Premier League future. The last seven days have been a rollercoaster of emotions but what it does seem to have done is unite players and supporters in the common goal of survival, rather than anything more. He'd been left out a few times under Dyche and seemed to be playing with a fear. Burnley managed to maintain their work ethic after the break and it set the tone for a vital victory. After a shaky first few minutes where passes went astray and Southampton could have led had Oriol Romeu put away his free header, Burnley settled into the contest and didn't let up.

Will the managerless Clarets get a win they desperately need in their bid for survival? Join Scott Murray to find out.

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl talks to Sky. “It is very tight in the middle of the table and with a few wins you can achieve a lot. 8 min: Taylor plays a blind backpass down the Saints right, allowing Broja to tear off down the flank. McNeil swans in from the right and aims a curler towards the top left. He wins a header ten yards out - this is uncontested, too - and aims for the top right. Rodriguez finds a bit of space down the middle and slips a pass down the inside-right channel for Weghorst, who strides into the box. 7 min: Walker-Peters ambles in from the right, unchallenged until he reaches the edge of the box. 21 min: McNeil drops a shoulder to get past Lyanco down the right. 22 min: Brownhill finds Weghorst on the edge of the Saints D with a cute pass from the right. Taylor bustles down the left and wins a Burnley corner. 35 min: Brownhill tries to release Weghorst into the box with a wedge down the inside right. The ball balloons to Weghorst, who must score, a couple of yards out. A bobbled effort twangs out for a corner ... but then the flag goes up belatedly for offside.

Talking Points | Burnley vs Wolves (wolves.co.uk)

Following on from the win over Everton, Burnley have now scored five goals in their last two Turf Moor games, which is as many as they’d managed in their previous nine Premier League games at home. Should he come in on the right, Jonny could transfer to the left, where he’s spent much of his Wolves career until recently. Fabio Silva is in possession of the shirt, with Hee Chan Hwang and Francisco Trincao either side, but after a disappointing result in the north east, Jimenez could provide a timely boost, likewise Pedro Neto, who was only fit enough for 15 minutes. Wolves will at least be grateful to not be facing the New Zealand striker, who netted four times against them last season – form he continued as a Newcastle United player recently. The old gold have a game in hand on both, who have testing fixtures this coming weekend. With six games remaining, Wolves remain very much in the hunt for European football, which took a turn for the better last weekend.

Burnley boost survival hopes as Connor Roberts sparks sinking of ... (The Guardian)

Burnley moved to within a point of Everton after Connor Roberts and Nathan Collins sealed a 2-0 victory against Southampton.

In the final moments there were chants from the stands of “There’s only one Sean Dyche” for their departed manager. The opener ignited an aggression inside Burnley who saw their opportunity to attack a Southampton side lacking thrust. Space was given to a man whose most recent club goal came almost a year ago, allowing him to move the ball on to his left foot and perfectly curl a shot round Fraser Forster into the corner to make everyone inside Turf Moor forget their troubles. The resulting James Ward-Prowse corner was attacked by an unmarked Oriol Romeu, who headed wide from six yards to provide a much-needed wake-up to Burnley. The victory leaves them one point behind Everton and safety having played a game more, but with a marginally better goal difference. Southampton could not cope with the liberated hosts, who gave themselves hope once again of beating the drop.
