Sydney lose ACL tie with Muscat's Yokohama (The West Australian)

Kevin Muscat's Yokohama F. Marinos may have handed a fatal blow to Sydney FC's Asian Champions League hopes with a 1-0 victory in Ho Chi Minh City.

Sydney did nearly strike back with the last action of the game in stoppage time but Burgess's point-blank header from a corner was snaffled safely on the line by Takaoka. In the 14th minute, he was put through on goal by Max Burgess but was thwarted, one on one, by the alert Yokohama keeper Yohei Takaoka. By the end of a draining night's work, Sydney, who had created the best chances in the first half, looked to be physically drained in the humid conditions after visibly running out of steam in the final quarter.
