Fulham cruise to promotion but must sharpen up for Premier League ... (The Guardian)

Marco Silva's entertainers have dominated the Championship but thoughts will quickly turn to ending yo-yo status.

The Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon, a name once on the lips of Pep Guardiola, is admired and a goalkeeper to rival Marek Rodak and Paulo Gazzaniga has been mooted. But like with Olise, the Football Association faces a challenge getting Carvalho, who was born in Lisbon but grew up in south London and has represented England at Under-18 level, in its grasp. In the end, it was Nottingham Forest’s late push for the top two that delayed the inevitable. Harry Wilson, a £12m signing from Liverpool, has been revitalised after loan spells and shone as part of Mitrovic’s supporting cast, alongside Fabio Carvalho and Neeskens Kebano, who is arguably enjoying his best form six years on from signing. Carvalho has been this season’s Michael Olise, a breakout young player with a wonderful sense of gravity, and the midfielder equally appears ready to take the step up in his stride. The brutal reality is that Marco Silva’s attention will soon turn, if it has not already, towards becoming at least the 17th best team in the country.

Liverpool could be about to pocket £10m because of Fulham's ... (Daily Express)

LIVERPOOL could be set to benefit after Fulham's return to the Premier League was confirmed on Tuesday evening.

That said, it remains to be seen whether Williams will look to emulate the likes of Harry Wilson and Lazar Markovic by going the other way to Craven Cottage in the not-too-distant future. It seems as though a £10m fee would be very affordable for Fulham, who spent over £100m on new recruits in the summer after they were promoted to England's top-flight back in 2019. The Welshman has enjoyed a period of stunning form on loan at Fulham, who secured an immediate return to the Premier League by rubber-stamping their latest promotion from the Championship on Tuesday night.

Fulham are back up, and now the attempt to defy gravity begins again (The Independent)

Fulham have secured promotion back to the Premier League in style - now can they stay up? (Getty Images). Promoted, relegated, promoted ...

At least, after being play-off winners in 2018 and 2020 and looking unprepared for the start of the season two years ago, Fulham have longer to plan. But, as the Premier League and the Championship feel ever further apart, Fulham again must aim to defy the laws of footballing gravity: that what went up must come down. But that led to a 13-year stay in the top flight. There is a case for arguing the Championship’s manager of the season is Huddersfield’s Carlos Corberan, Luton’s Nathan Jones, Nottingham Forest’s Steve Cooper or even Derby’s Wayne Rooney, who have had to do more with less. Norwich’s model has felt more organic, with greater continuity in the dugout and fewer expensive additions – certainly compared to Fulham’s masterclass in bad buying in 2018-19, when they spent £100 million to go down – but they can look two of a kind. A return of 10 goals and 15 assists suggests he was a Championship cheat code; as Mitrovic, on 40 goals, is closing in on Guy Whittingham’s divisional record, he is a still greater one.

Fulham and the Premier League: back once again (The Guardian)

“There are hundreds of business projects with Spanish companies in Saudi Arabia. Why only the football can’t?” When you achieve something so important early in the season, that gives you time to prepare in the right way and we have to do that.” Tommy T reckons Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs should have done better in the race for Big Cup qualification given they have all experienced early cup exits. “At Anfield we were treated to a display of sheer professionalism at the highest level. “Our physios made 71 treatments between Atlético Madrid and the semi-final against Liverpool,” he tooted. In Mitrovic, Fulham have a striker who has scored 40 Championship goals this season, a fine achievement that has prompted some armchair critics to flag up the derisory three the Serbian international scored in the top flight last season and label him a flat-track-bully. “I don’t know what’s going on in their heads or if they’re even following women’s football.” “WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!” chanted Fulham’s ecstatic players and fans at Craven Cottage, a refrain they previously sung in 2018 and 2020, only to sink like Boris Johnson’s approval rating upon reaching the promised land. This guy was focused on the job” – Mark McFadden. It would be lazy and unoriginal to state that Fulham’s win over Preston on Tuesday guaranteed their relegation from next season’s Premier League, so needless to say that is exactly what The Fiver will do. 4 apps, 3 goals: Marco Silva's top Fulham XI's last top-flight records (HITC)

Fulham are back in the Premier League and on course for the Championship title, but how did Marco Silva's favourites last fair in the top-flight?

The 30-year-old has also started 29 of his appearances in the second-tier. He scored just three and assisted three goals over 27 games last term under Parker, while also only starting 13 of his league appearances, too. Scott Parker afforded the teenager his top-flight bow in May 2021 and he started Fulham’s final three fixtures, as well. The Portuguese had only played four league fixtures previously in his career. But he must now prove his worth in the top-flight, too. He has nine goals and seven assists in 32 games, starting 29. But he only played twice and conceded five goals during 2020/21 in the top-flight. The American only played seven league games in 2020/21. Harrison Reed started the current campaign on the sidelines but overcome his injury to be a key part of Silva’s plans. Silva started Denis Odoi in 17 of his 18 appearances during the Championship season. But they sit first this season with a nine-point advantage to Bournemouth with six games to play and promotion already in the bag. Mitrovic has been vital to Silva’s efforts to secure Fulham a Premier League berth with the Serbian the Championship’s top-scorer.

Positives and negatives: Fulham 3-0 Preston North End | Fulhamish (Fulhamish)

We've only gone and done it. The Whites are going up, Cam has a misty-eyed account of the action for you all to savour and now, they're really gonna believe ...

Neeskens is always looking to incorporate his teammates, he could’ve been greedy in the closing stages to slam our 4th of the night but he’s perceptive, he shares a similar intelligence with Bobby, however he implements his judgement unremittingly and his primary duty is to attack and show no mercy. Encounters have often passed the playmaker by where physical altercations are concerned, he can certainly take a knock but on Tuesday, he was the enforcer administering tough lessons, a role reversal the signifies command and prestige in the heat of the moment. Bewilderingly, TC was booked for a tough collision with McCann, an altercation where both men were equally engaged, and after spending a few minutes on the deck to compose himself, the 31-year-old continued to operate with the same drive and authority, and that has to be commended. Virtually dormant for the majority of the campaign, Bryan was fielded at left-back once again and following a string of nondescript performances, the revitalised fullback awakened and he understood the assignment. Tom Cairney’s renowned for his elegance but alongside Harrison Reed, and up against Alistair McCann and company, the chief producer of opportunity wielded a ruthlessness that stunted Preston’s enjoyment in the middle of the park, a hard-hitting inclination that’s unfamiliar but wholly mandatory. The provider of our first of the night, of course, Joe danced inside from the left and dissected North End’s back four with a delicate dab into Mitro’s hunting ground and the striker, transfixed on the target, complimented our fullback’s sexy slip in behind with a swift punch. Aleksandar was painfully close to furthering his total at Pride Park, it annoyingly wasn’t to be, however in front of an ecstatic home support, Serbia’s all-time top goal scorer couldn’t resist a speaker box or two and he tortured the visitors’ back line senselessly. The job, so to speak, is done, we are promoted, but we are not champions and the title is owed to Fulham, and Fulham only. With 4 games left to reach and even surpass Guy Whittingham’s long-standing haul of 42 in a single season, the odds on Mitro becoming the second division’s greatest scorer bar none are being slashed and even if he doesn’t ascend into a bracket of his own, he’s already rubber-stamped a Sky Bet return that won’t be touched. We can parade with pride, we can plan for the not-so-distant future, and the procession to the trophy is well underway. Nerves subsided, a sense of courage surged across our historic auditorium and it bled into the boys that have made this season’s dream a reality. Ryan Lowe’s Lilywhites had absolutely nothing to play for, they’re currently 15th, they brought 300 fans with them and given the immensity of the meeting for the hosts, a comprehensive paddling was always coming their way.

Fulham promoted to Premier League (NBC Sports)

Fulham clinched promotion back to the Premier League, 344 days their relegation, with a 3-0 win over Preston North End on Tuesday.

The key difference to this promotion is the dominance with which Fulham have taken the second division this season. Wilson will officially join Fulham on a permanent basis this summer, as per the loan agreement. In two and a half Championship seasons for Fulham, Mitrovic has scored an astonishing 78 goals in 96 games.
