A man punched Ade in the head from behind and the mob erupted in a chaotic attack. As he arrived in the middle of the crowd, Ade said he was supportive of the students’ demands. Bruises and blood were clearly visible around his face.

University lecturer-cum-social media activist Ade Armando became a victim of a violent beating amid a mass protest in Jakarta.

“I'm worried that the student movement is too childish just because of these differences and then it splits. But what I heard is that BEM SI is split,” said Armando in front of the DPR building before demonstrators gathered there. Ade Armando, who is also a vocal social media figure, was interviewed by journalists regarding the university student mass protest just hours before the incident.
