2022 WWE WrestleMania 38 results, Night 2 grades: Roman Reigns ... (CBSSports.com)

Reigns bested Brock Lesnar in the main event on Sunday night for his first win over the now former champion at WrestleMania.

Reigns hit Lesnar with a low blow and Heyman gave him the universal championship, which Reigns used to hit Lesnar and score a two count. McAfee hit one of his trademark spots, landing on his feet on a backflip off the top rope before leaping back to the top rope and hitting Theory with a superplex. Lesnar went for another F-5 only for Reigns to slide out, shoving Lesnar into the ropes and allowing Reigns to hit one final spear for the finish. The finish was pretty sudden and the match was a bit lacking in the overall drama compared to previous Reigns and Lesnar contests. After the match, McAfee taunted McMahon, leading McMahon to take off his jacket and his shirt, striping to a tanktop and bringing a referee to the ring. Lashley then hit a spear to the back and another spear from the front to score the pin. Austin Theory: McAfee got off to a hot start with spinning elbows and ranas to keep Theory on the defensive. Edge: Edge took a smug approach to the start of the match, disrespecting Styles before Styles hit a dropkick and several arm drags to get off to a hot start. Zayn used a baking sheet and a crutch to hit Knoxville across the back before pulling out a table from under the ring. Riddle took out Ford with a springboard RKO as Ford was on the top rope and Orton hit Gable with an RKO of his own as Gable came off the top rope, scoring the win. Styles drove Edge into the ring apron with a superplex, nearly resulting in a double count out but Styles hit a springboard 450 when Edge got back in the ring, resulting in a near fall. In the main event, WWE champion Brock Lesnar clashed with Roman Reigns in a bout to unify WWE's top two championships.

Vince McMahon defeats Pat McAfee in surprise WrestleMania 38 ... (New York Post)

The 76-year-old WWE chairman had his first official match in 10 years as he defeated SmackDown announcer and former Colts punter Pat McAfee in an impromptu ...

It was his first match since a no-contest against CM Punk on “Monday Night Raw” in 2012 and his first at a WrestleMania since he lost to Bret Hart in 2010. He too shared a beer with Austin, and like the two before him, took a Stunner of his own to a roaring crowd. McAfee lost to McMahon’s on-screen protégé Austin Theory in the scheduled match for the event.

WWE WrestleMania 38 review: Best matches, biggest surprises ... (The Athletic)

Which match stole the show this weekend? What can we expect at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles?

It’s hard to explain, and I don’t know if the letdown is more because of Flair or because of Rousey. Of all the matches, I guess I expected much more, and it didn’t deliver. Sayles: Roman Reigns and The Rock for the title. Seemed like it was in the cards three years ago before they went in a different direction. I didn’t think we’d get anything close to the full Cody Rhodes entrance wrestling fans have grown accustomed to over the past few years — music, ring gear, blond hair and all — but we did. And then, we saw “Stone Cold” Steve Austin deliver a Stunner to McMahon. Without question, that was the biggest surprise for me. Triple H doing his signature entrance — water-spitting, corner pose and all — and leaving his boots in the center of the ring to signify his retirement was a great way to get the crowd going on Night 2. Kingston and Woods even wore singlets and long jackets to the ring, a la Big E. But … the victory went to Sheamus and Ridge Holland. Sayles: The Charlotte Flair-Ronda Rousey match didn’t bring the energy I thought it would. The women’s tag champions can appear on both “Raw” and “SmackDown.” Hopefully, we see them take advantage of that scenario. Though I really enjoyed and appreciated what Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins did, you could see the passion of the storyline in that Becky-Bianca match. Batiste: I was thinking about how I could get cute here, but c’mon, it’s Belair-Lynch. I had extremely high expectations going in, and the buildup over the past few weeks heightened those even more. Check out the best moments, biggest surprises and more:
