The system is used to keep track of the crowd, as the ushers will prevent those in the queue from entering when a certain number of cards have been dealt. To give you an idea, the pre-pandemic bazaars could go up to 800 stalls, but we estimate around a few dozen stalls for the two areas combined in 2022, consistent with the 40 stalls announced. While many are happy to see the bazaar return, there are quite a few deviations that make it a decidedly different experience from years past. You will need to keep your masks on which will help with the heat a bit. The ventilation wasn’t too bad and you get a fairly wide hallway to navigate the crowds. The queue to enter the bazaar moved quite quickly from late afternoon to early evening, but expect it to get more crowded as the night progresses.

Crowds throng Ramadan bazaars after two-year hiatus; jubilant ... (TODAY)

SINGAPORE — The Muslim fasting month of Ramadan might only be starting on Sunday (April 3), but the two bazaars in Kampong Gelam and Geylang Serai that ...

The mood was jubilant in both locations. By 6pm, a line had stretched out to the junction of Geylang Serai and Geylang Road as people queued to enter the bazaar located at Wisma Geylang Serai community centre. When TODAY visited Geylang Serai around 3pm, suppliers were rushing about carting deliveries of assorted meats, kuehs and other inventory, while carpenters were putting the finishing touches on the stalls in anticipation of the official opening of the Geylang Serai Hari Raya Shopping Experience on Sunday.

As expected, most of the crowd was congregated at the food area. Photo by Mandy How. We counted nine F&B stalls in total, although some of the stalls ...

We like that all the food stalls were in one place, which makes locating a particular vendor much easier, as opposed to going through a maze of booths to hunt down a food item (although that is, admittedly, part of the experience). The system is used to keep track of the crowd, as the ushers will stop those in the queue from entering when a certain number of cards have been given out. One of the most obvious and impactful differences is that the bazaar now covers a much smaller land area, and hosts significantly fewer stalls. You'll have to keep your masks on, so that will contribute a little to the heat. A good portion of the retail stalls, such as fashion, homeware, and lifestyle vendors, were still in preparation mode. The queue to enter the bazaar moved quite fast in the late afternoon to early evening, but expect it to get more congested as the night wears on.

Geylang Bazaar 2022 Food Guide: 22 Stalls To Visit At The Geylang ... (eatbook.sg)

If you're wondering what to eat at the Kampong Gelam and Geylang Ramadan Bazaar 2022, here's our food guide to must-try dishes.

They’re making their bazaar debut this year at the Kampong Gelam Souq, where you get to enjoy their satay in a handy cup, great for munching as you soak in the bazaar vibes. They have two main specialities: Kuali, which lets you DIY your wok-fried bowls in a concept similar to Wok Hey, and Roti Bang ($7), their take on Roti John. Bazaar regular Meat My Meat has been around since 2016, serving up their take on Philly cheesesteaks and a wide selection of sides. Pisang Keju prices start at $7 for regular toppings, which includes the traditional sambal kicap duo, or $8 for premium, which gets you Biscoff, Milo, and many more. Each comes with a scoop of ice cream as well, only at the bazaar stall. Kinglicious Popiah flips the classic popiah recipe on its head with their seafood versions. The stall offers roti john from $10, available also as a set with fries from $12. Their roti john is pricier than most, but that’s because you get a 12-inch bun packed with sauces and toppings. At the stall, Poffertjes are priced at $6.50, and flavoured with your pick of ondeh-ondeh, Nutella pops, or cookies and cream. Prices start at $6 for the dengdeng, but the stall also has other dishes too, from sandwiches to burgers. Thankfully, their pop-up stall is back now at this year’s Ramadan Bazaar. The vadai here start at $1, and is available in nine flavours: dhal, veg, onion, chilli, grago, ikan billis, and prawn. The Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar is finally here again, and Singapore is collectively celebrating the return of this beloved open market.
