We simulated Burnley vs Man City to get a score prediction (Manchester Evening News)

Manchester City travel to Burnley on Saturday as Pep Guardiola's side look to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League.

Grealish opened the scoring as he looked to improve his output for Guardiola's side, with Foden scoring a late double to seal all three points and keep City ahead of Liverpool in the title race. Burnley looked to find a late equaliser but were undone with a quick counter-attack as Foden sealed all three points for City and kept them top of the Premier League. Here are the full-time match stats. City's pressure finally resulted in a second after some good counter-pressing from Sterling allowed the English winger to drive forward and drill the ball across the box to Foden who powered his shot past Pope to make it 2-1 with just minutes to play. Foden bagged his second and City's third just minutes later with one of the final kicks of the game as De Bruyne played the 21-year-old through on goal on the counter-attack, with Foden slotting the ball under Pope and into the bottom corner to make it 3-1. Wout Weghorst was able to level the score just before half-time with a powerful strike past Ederson at the near post making it 1-1. We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Burnley against Man City on Saturday and this is what happened.

Manchester City XI vs Burnley: Confirmed starting lineup, team news ... (Evening Standard)

Ederson and John Stones are fit to feature in Manchester City's squad for the game against Burnley today.

Raheem Sterling started the FA Cup win over Southampton last time out and the winger’s form for club and country earns him a first Premier League start in three games from Pep Guardiola. But he is back in to start. The Premier League leaders make the short trip to Turf Moor shortly after Liverpool’s game against Watford, meaning a win will likely be the only result to maintain the defending champions’ advantage at the top.

'It's a brilliant time to be in my shoes' - Grealish ready for Man City's ... (Goal.com)

Jack Grealish can take his international form into Manchester City's testing run against defensive sides Burnley and Atletico Madrid before Liverpool.

Similarly, Foden and Silva, as false nines, can drop deep to pull centre-backs away from zones for others to run into. That's why Guardiola's attackers will be so important with Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Sterling and Riyad Mahrez needing to step up in these tight matches. And they’re allowed to go and score goals." While the term is obviously meant as an insult to the Spanish side, it reflects a shared view in attempting to frustrate opponents and play to your defensive strengths. "He's shown me every other stat in the world that you would be happy with apart from goals and assists. "It's a brilliant time to be in my shoes," he said after impressing in England's 3-0 victory over Ivory Coast in midweek.

Nathan Ake will partner Aymeric Laporte at the heart of the City defence this afternoon as we take on Burnley at Turf Moor.

City have the best away record in the top flight, winning 11 of their 15 away games (D3, L1). Manchester City have lost just one of their last 19 Premier League matches (W16, D2). That's a midfield three with steel and guile in abundance.

Burnley vs Man City live (Manchester Evening News)

Manchester City take on Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Saturday, looking to react to Liverpool's result against Watford.

Going into the weekend just a point ahead of Liverpool, City kicked-off at Burnley in second place after Jurgen Klopp's side beat Watford in the lunchtime game. With Liverpool visiting the Etihad next week, City know the importance of a win to ensure they go into that clash top of the Premier League table. With the next four games throwing up double-headers against Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, this is the final chance for players to impress Guardiola before a season-defining fortnight in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

Michael Owen agrees with pundits on Burnley vs Man City score ... (Manchester Evening News)

Manchester City face Burnley in the Premier League at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.

"The away team will undoubtedly see a lot of the ball and have close to 75 per cent possession, but will they manage to score goals? "Burnley, on the other hand, will look to keep it tight and take their chances from set-pieces. But considering City are up against a Burnley side who have won just three times in the league all season, they will fancy their chances of reclaiming top spot if Liverpool prove triumphant earlier in the day. I do think they'll win though." The stalemate with Patrick Vieira's side opened the door for Liverpool to move within a point of them in the table and they did just that, beating Arsenal 2-0 48 hours later. That is because Liverpool kick-off at 12:30pm on Saturday and a win against Watford would see them move above Pep Guardiola's side.

'Obviously' - Kyle Walker makes Liverpool 'problems' claim for Man ... (Liverpool Echo)

Man City defender Kyle Walker has praised Liverpool ahead of next week's Premier League showdown at Anfield.

"Yeah, I feel it was a couple of seasons ago now where we had to go and win every game to pip them to the title. "Listen, as you said, I don't think that we've done that much wrong to concede as many points as we have done. That's what title winning teams do, they grind out results and go and get the points that are needed on the day." Five days later, Liverpool travel to Manchester on Sunday afternoon to face City which could ultimately decide where the Premier League title ends up at the end of the season. "Obviously. Liverpool are a great team and we have to be on our A game for this because they've caused us some problems in the recent years but I think we've been here before. It's better to be where we are at the top then obviously where they are in second but anything can change in football, especially the Premier League. It's a crazy, crazy game."

A Tuesday to Sunday turnaround ahead of the Premier League game should have got the worst effects of the Suárez antics out of Man City’s system, but playing the second leg away at Atlético on the Wednesday night ahead of a Saturday meeting in the FA Cup could be hugely testing. In a title race of such fine margins, perhaps the effects of the trip to Portugal will have a residual impact, but with more than four full days to recover it should not prove decisive. If all goes well, Liverpool may even be able to field a second string side in their own second leg, which will be played at Anfield: the difference is stark. Ninety minutes of handling Suárez, Simeone and all the other wily old foxes, even at the Etihad, is worth about six flights to Lisbon. It is still a colossal ask for Liverpool to come through this fortnight unscathed. Nonetheless, if the Uruguayan is locked into one of his goalscoring veins of form, it is very bad news for Manchester City. Now 35, he is also no longer a certainty to start, but he will relish any chance he gets to make a nuisance of himself. However, the striker will surely have been grateful for the run-out, a great confidence-booster ahead of his biggest game of the campaign. READ MORE: Mohamed Salah may finally have realised what Liverpool always knew as contract solution 'near' To make matters worse for Man City, their opponents are entering the tie in extremely good form, in stark contrast to Benfica. Unbeaten in eight and on a six-game winning streak, they warmed up for the Champions League tie with a 4-1 drubbing of Alavés. Suárez and João Félix both helped themselves to braces. Félix has not even been a guaranteed starter in the league this season, with Simeone typically preferring to save the talented youngster for the big Champions League nights. It was immediately clear that the Champions League draw had been kind to Liverpool. It would be dangerous to write off Benfica out of hand, but on paper they are the weakest side left in the competition. Sandwiched between that first game are the two legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Benfica. It doesn’t get much more high-stakes, but Jürgen Klopp could hold a critical four-game advantage — and Luis Suárez is partly to thank.

Of course, there is another option- one that involves all three playing, should Guardiola opt to set up a false nine system. It seems to be on a knife's edge as we stand. It's down to Guardiola now to decide who partners the Belgian in the other number eight position. And of course, more shutouts like the one against Burnley can't possibly hurt City's title charge. Could Saturday's scoresheet be a sign that City will need their midfielders in amongst the goals to get through the next four matches unscathed?
