After the COVID shutdown curbed April Fools' Day in 2020, brands started pranks even earlier. Does it always work? Ask Volkswagen.

The announcement comes with a pretty obvious hint: "This launch is conveniently timed to April Fools’ Day." "April Fool’s Day is definitely useful as a way of breaking through the clutter of messaging most of us are exposed to," McGrath said in an email exchange. The Catholic Church also may have had a hand in bringing April Fools' Day to the fore earlier in history. By the 19th century, April Fools' Day had become a mainstay of American culture. Among last year's April Fools' best teases: Velveeta's new line of V by Velveeta's beauty products including moisturizer and night cream. Back to Volkswagen's name change stunt, the company eventually confessed on March 30, 2021 that the announcement was an April Fools' joke. At the time, White House spokesperson Mike McCurry played along, the Inquirer recalled on last year's 25th anniversary of the stunt, saying, “We’ll be doing a series of these things. The joke feature wound up attached to many emails, unintentionally, and had to be turned off. "Even before widespread social media, this caused a major stir," McGrath said. But it turned out to be a poorly played joke. So how did it become a time for jokes and pranks? It's the latest twist on a holiday that has its beginnings centuries ago.

But thankfully, the paper was good enough to explain later in the same article that it was a joke. As Associated Press reported at the time and BBC itself admitted that the broadcaster had to apologise for weeks to many of its foreign subscribers who got in touch to claim Big Ben’s hands. The broadcaster soon came clean on the story, revealing it to be a prank. When the office of two US senators called up Taco Bell and the National Park Service about the news, the company issued a statement confirming that it was an April Fools’ prank. This was enough to trigger debates among experts outraging against the Alabama legislature’s ‘decision’. Thanks to a growing popularity of emails at that time, the story went viral on the internet. And some even called up BBC to ‘reveal’ how they felt floating in the air. The reason given was that Taco Bell purchased it “in an effort to help the national debt.” Stensson went to great lengths to explain (in what sounded like technical terms) that the nylon stocking would bend the wavelengths of the TV and turn them into colour. It takes the boredom out of everyday work.” In France, where it is known as Poisson d’Avril (April Fish), a prankster sticks paper fish on the back of their unsuspecting victim and runs away screaming “Poisson d’Avril!” at the top of their lungs. Some claim that this tradition of pulling off a practical joke on friends and strangers can be traced to the ancient Roman period. Hopping on the health and wellness trend, KFC Singapore releases its very own take on chicken essence with its KFC Essence of Chicken this April Fool's, introducing a delicious path to wellness. The popular burger joint in Singapore serves up a new “Fry-Day Burger,” in light of April Fool’s falling on a Friday this year. Farmhouse partnered up with creative agency, The Chariot Agency, to advertise a campaign that was “left field, but able to break through the saturated dairy space.” April Fool's Day marked the best time to drive home Farmhouse’s desire to emphasise the fresh quality of its milk without taking itself too seriously. The brand even went so far as to reinforce the extreme testing measures that were taken, of which include testing in temperature-controlled chambers, drop-testing and material and fabric testing, to create the complete product. Marketed as an invigorating exfoliant that immaculately cleanses and polishes the skin, Irvins employs a vibrant visual that depicts the popular salted egg in all its glory. Dyson made waves with its announcement of a new product: the Dyson Zone, a set of air-purifying headphones with active noise cancellation features. Although an unconventional move from the condom brand, according to Durex, the launch of their streetwear collection is to empower individuals to make bolder condom purchases and become more sex-positive. The advertisement for the April Fool's campaign shows a user tapping on the Atome Scent feature, and a whiff of the scent radiating out of one's phone upon doing so. Burger King Taiwan took its menu to the next level with the inauguration of the loaded strawberry beef burger, an April Fool's special. "This includes avid gamers in Singapore, who are all too familiar with the comfort and ease of picking up slices of their favourite pizzas in between (or even during) games," Chia added. The new vertical is a toy car subscription that helps realise the childhood dreams of car enthusiasts. Mimrah Mahmood, senior director and partner, Meltwater told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that brands around the world have consistently leveraged April Fool’s Day as a light-hearted way to connect with consumers and show that they can have a bit of fun, too.

April Fool's Day 2022: Relieve your childhood with these harmless ... (Times of India)

India News: NEW DELHI: April Fools' Day or All Fools' Day is a worldwide prank day, celebrated across many countries.

The research relationship between both countries is focused on STEM, Healthcare and Management. The most important part of the research engagement lies in the advances made in knowledge transfer, high technology applications and the development of a trans-national education ecosystem. The opportunity for collaboration is genuine, and both countries are working together to enhance education and research outcomes with clear benefits for the people, businesses, and society. Australia has one of the most supportive international education systems in the world, and it is clear from how the Australian Strategy for International Education 2021-2030 puts the student experience, student protection and students' rights at the core. Under the trans-national education system, Australian and Indian universities are developing models for Indian students to start their studies in India and then move to an Australian campus after a few years, with an option to graduate with a degree from either institution. While both countries are knowledge-based economies, further commonalities in how education and research are conducted, similar challenges (although the scale is much higher in India) and a focus on solving issues with societal relevance have kept the engagement tighter to future needs. The task force will deliver a mechanism for expanding education qualification recognition between Australia and India by the end of the year, with its implementation planned for 2023.

This idea has a real feasibility too since Kit Kat Chocolatory was set up for only three days from Apr 8-10 in the same year to offer flavours such as mango and sticky rice, som tum, durian and rose tea. In June 2019, Grab launched Grab TukTuk (Electric) service for real in Chiang Mai. It's time for the tuk tuk to join a ride-hailing app and get with the programme. That's where Grab comes in so you know how much you have to pay the driver before you get on. All in all, this idea makes so much sense if they are available for real, given the sizeable proportion of Thais of Chinese origin in this country. I also noticed a miniature Burger King shop in the artwork, which doesn't surprise me much since I've already seen a paper Starbucks shop. Although April Fools' Day isn't a Thai tradition, to begin with, every year businesses and brands have jumped on this good-natured humour bandwagon with their out-there ideas for products and services.

It even reported that the city was looking to get around 5 million Deutsche Marks for each station and that the city was looking at retrospectively charging the descendants of Richard Wagner for the existing Richard Wagner Platz station. The original Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung article reported that the device worked by triggering a chemical reaction that extracted carbon dioxide from the pilot’s breath and used it to power a small motor. The photo was so convincing it caused major publications, including The Daily Mirror and The New York Times, to run genuine stories, explaining that a German pilot, named Erich Kocher, was able to fly by simply using the power of his lungs. The first April Fool's joke printed in a German newspaper was on April 1, 1774. Ahead of the meeting, several people who had heard that it was taking place began to trade currencies speculatively, to try and make money from the decision. The origin of April Fool’s Day in Germany rather fittingly stems from a bunch of opportunistic entrepreneurs being made into complete fools.
