Liverpool's vital win at the Amex Stadium provided a reminder to Mohamed Salah that the pressure is on him to sign new terms, no matter what his agent might ...

Turning 30 in June, the pressure will only continue to mount as it becomes clear that the Reds won't be breaking the wage structure for his services. The Colombian's performances have provided a glimpse into the future — one that could potentially be without Salah. No Liverpool fan would begrudge him for going in search of a new challenge, though the least Klopp would expect is to not be left on a contract carousel. The days of the Reds relying on Steven Gerrard leading a cast with only speckles of stardust are long gone — though you wouldn't know that from how Salah's agent has behaved during the negotiations. While the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City can comfortably offer him £400k per week, that's not how FSG have built their winning model on Merseyside. Salah has scored just three times from open play in his last 10 games.

These are all important points when making the decision." Salah has been exceptional every season he's played for the Reds and he's certainly in the discussion of the greatest stars to ever wear the shirt. As the Egyptian said himself back in December: "There are things like the ambition of the team and the coach and what he wants to do with the team and the players he wants. Of course, the responsibility still lies with Liverpool, as much as it does the player and his representatives, to strike a deal that satisfies both parties. Here you can be something more.” Reports this week from L'Equipe suggest PSG are already looking to part ways with the ex-Liverpool midfielder and that the “acknowledgement of failure is shared" by both the club and the player.

Liverpool may have ideal Mohamed Salah replacement but FSG ... (Liverpool.com)

Liverpool may already have a replacement for Mohamed Salah lined up but first FSG have to make an important transfer compromise this summer.

Considering Salah is regarded among the world's best players, Liverpool have to keep him if they want to continue to compete at the highest levels. But given the market and Liverpool's situation at the moment, they might just have to strike a compromise this time around. FSG will be reluctant to do that on a long-term basis, but what if they don't have to? Antony of Ajax is another player who still needs time to develop before he is ready for the next step in his career. But right now, the time is too soon to make such a transition. But the mere fact that Mohamed Salah's name is also among the debate is an indicator of his quality at the moment.
